Clinic Resident Physicians
Teaching is an important part of what we do and our physicians are on the clinical faculty in the University of Texas Medical Branch Department of Family Medicine. Our teaching includes a Rural Training Track in Weimar for Family Medicine resident physicians who have an interest in gaining expertise in and familiarity with practicing medicine in a rural area. Teaching of residents and medical students who come to Weimar helps keep our practice up to date and energized.
Seven family medicine residents completed the RTT through 2007. Most graduates of the RTT (6 out of 7) entered practice in rural areas. Four of the 7 RTT graduates are Hispanic, reflecting the program’s success in attracting underrepresented minority physicians.
